Renault has launched the Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 in India at introductory ex-showroom prices ranging from Rs 16.99 lakh to Rs 19.49 lakh. The new hybrid is offered in three variants — Evolution, Techno and Emotion — and Renault quotes an ARAI-certified efficiency figure of 29km/l. That is a certified claim, not a Verdvit road-test result. [1] [2]

The launch took place on October 17, 2026. Bookings are open, while customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in November. Fortune India reports November 6 as the start date and says R-Pass customers will receive priority; Autocar India also says deliveries are scheduled for November. [1] [2] The introductory prices apply to deliveries made until December 31, 2026, according to Autocar India.

Key points - Evolution costs Rs 16.99 lakh, Techno Rs 18.99 lakh and Emotion Rs 19.49 lakh, all ex-showroom introductory prices. - The E-Tech 160 uses a 1.8-litre petrol engine, two electric motors, a 1.4kWh battery and a multi-mode automatic transmission. - Renault quotes 29km/l as the Duster hybrid’s ARAI-certified efficiency figure. Real-world economy will vary with traffic, speed, load, weather and driving style. - Deliveries are scheduled from November; this article does not treat the car as independently road-tested.

Renault Duster hybrid price list in India

The three-grade line-up is straightforward. The entry Evolution is priced at Rs 16.99 lakh, the Techno at Rs 18.99 lakh and the top Emotion at Rs 19.49 lakh. These are introductory ex-showroom prices, so they do not represent an on-road amount after registration, insurance, taxes or other local charges. [1] [2]

Variant Introductory ex-showroom price
Evolution Rs 16.99 lakh
Techno Rs 18.99 lakh
Emotion Rs 19.49 lakh

The difference between Evolution and Techno is Rs 2 lakh, while Emotion adds Rs 50,000 over Techno. Autocar India says the introductory pricing is applicable to deliveries until December 31, 2026. That date matters: the figures should not be read as a permanent price promise beyond the stated introductory window. [1]

Renault is adding the hybrid as another powertrain for the current-generation Duster rather than replacing its turbo-petrol versions. The strong-hybrid SUV will compete in the same broad space as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder strong hybrids. [1] [2]

What the Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 gets

The E-Tech 160 pairs a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors. Renault quotes a combined system output of 160hp, while the traction motor produces 208Nm. The system uses a 1.4kWh, 247V battery and a multi-mode automatic gearbox. [1] [2]

This is a self-charging hybrid. The battery is replenished by regenerative braking and the petrol engine, so the vehicle does not need to be plugged into an external charger. Autocar describes a system with two electric gears and four petrol gears that can switch between different operating modes, including electric, petrol-only and hybrid operation. [1]

Renault says the Duster hybrid can handle up to 80% of city driving in pure electric mode under suitable conditions. That is a manufacturer claim about operating behaviour, not a guarantee for every commute. Traffic, ambient temperature, road gradient, battery state and how the accelerator is used can all change how often the engine runs. [1] [2]

The quoted 0–100kph time is 9.61 seconds, another Renault claim reported by Autocar. The hybrid also has a 50-litre fuel tank, and Renault claims a total driving range of more than 1,400km. The range figure depends on the same conditions that affect fuel consumption, so it should be treated as a claim rather than a promise of an individual trip distance. [1]

Is 29km/l the Duster’s real-world mileage?

No road-test conclusion can be drawn from the 29km/l figure. Autocar India identifies it as the ARAI-certified mileage for the Duster hybrid, while Fortune India also describes it as a claimed or ARAI-certified efficiency figure. [1] [2]

An ARAI-certified number is useful for comparing vehicles tested under a standardised certification process. It is not the same as a fuel-economy result measured on public roads by an independent reviewer. Owners may see a lower or higher figure depending on congestion, route, speed, tyre pressures, climate-control use, passengers and driving habits.

That distinction is especially important for a strong hybrid. The Duster may use electric propulsion more often in slow, stop-start city traffic, but sustained highway speeds and heavy loads can change the balance between electric and petrol operation. Until independent road tests and owner data are available, 29km/l should be reported only as the certified or claimed headline figure.

Variant-wise feature positioning

The Evolution is not a bare-bones grade. Autocar reports a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital driver display and dual-zone automatic climate control as standard, along with safety equipment including six airbags, hill-start assist, cruise control with a speed limiter, rear parking sensors and a rearview camera. [1]

The Techno adds an electric panoramic sunroof, keyless entry with push-button start and connected-car functions through Renault’s MyRenault app. It also gets Desert Beige semi-leatherette upholstery, according to Autocar’s equipment summary. [1]

The Emotion is the range-topping grade. Its extra equipment includes a 10.25-inch digital driver display, six-way electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, a powered tailgate and Dune Brown leatherette upholstery. Full-LED headlamps are available from Techno upwards, while the top trim receives 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. [1]

The variant spread therefore changes more than the badge. Evolution establishes the lowest entry price, Techno adds comfort and convenience features, and Emotion concentrates the most equipment at the top of the range.

November deliveries and what remains untested

Bookings are underway, but a booking announcement is not the same as retail deliveries already taking place. The launch reports place deliveries in November, with Fortune India giving November 6 and reporting priority for R-Pass customers. [1] [2]

The Duster hybrid’s headline proposition is clear: a 160hp strong-hybrid system, three trims and a 29km/l ARAI-certified figure, starting at Rs 16.99 lakh ex-showroom. What is not yet available in the launch reports is independent Indian road-test evidence for fuel economy, refinement, acceleration or long-term ownership costs.

Those results will matter when the first customer cars are delivered. For now, the reliable launch facts are the introductory prices, the Evolution–Techno–Emotion trim structure, the E-Tech 160 hardware and Renault’s certified efficiency claim.
